Cobbold Gorge

Introducing the new Skywalk!

Have you seen it yet?  I know that on my facebook account all I keep seeing is the new skywalk from Cobbold Gorge.  It is an amazing new addition to all the things you can do out at Cobbold Gorge.  We have been meaning to pop back out to Cobbold for a while now and this seems like the perfect excuse!  Unfortunately for me I am going to have to wait until next season. ☹

So what do you want to know about the NEW skywalk? How about the New Glass bridge measures 13m between the centre of each abutment and has a width of 2.4m. Or that it has been designed to support a load of 11 tonnes distributed along the length of the bridge, this is equivalent to approximately 140 people or 2 african elephants, or a double decker bus!!

Cobbold Gorge is open each year from 1st April (or easter) till the 31st October.  During the warmer months (April/May/Sept/Oct) they even have a stay 4 pay 3 deal, which includes easter and the school holidays during these months.  So why not book ahead and get in for Easter now! That way when everyone is scratching for somewhere to go and everything is booked out you will be happy in the knowledge you have your camp spot all sorted!

So what is there to see and do at Cobbold Gorge?

You can participate in many activities that are on offer, including aqua golf on the billabong. Test you golfing skills by trying to hit the floating target before kayaking out to retrieve your floating ball.  There is also Birdwatching, Mountain Biking, and Fossicking.

There are Tours of the gorge ranging from the standard 3 hour Gorge tour to the full day Ultimate Outback Adventure Tour.  Or my personal Favourite the Stand Up Paddle Board Tour.

You can have your choice of camping or Glamping at Cobbold Gorge with 30 cabins, 6 ensuite sites, 16 drive thru powered sites, 9 powered sites for Camper trailers/tents, 20 camping sites (heavily foliaged) and 7 self contained sites for caravans/motorhomes using their own amenities so with all these options there is bound to be something that takes your fancy.

Cobbold Gorge offers modern facilities including the infinity pool complete with swim up bar and McDonalds Creek Licensed bar and Bistro which is open for breakfast lunch and dinner.  Both of these provide sweeping views over the adjacent freshwater billabong and golden savannah grasslands.

So why not give it a go! Get out there and have a great time whilst exploring some of the amazing landscape we have here in our own backyard.
