OUR STORY
Welcome to Savannah Campers & Trailers a family run business based in Far North Queensland. The origins of Savannah Campers go back to 2012 when company founders Doug & Lynn were inspired by a 4WDing trip through the Kimberly. They decided that the next time they went camping it wouldn’t be in tents, so Savannah Campers & Trailers was founded.
The first camper trailers they sold were small rear fold campers manufactured here in Cairns in their backyard. They learn’t alot during that time and after a few years they joined the SUV family and started selling the larger rear fold campers. They partnered with SUV to bring quality affordable camper trailers to the Cairns region. As the camper trailer industry moved forward SUV followed with the introduction of forward fold campers including the Grand which is still in the SUV range to this day.
Savannah Campers & Trailers are based in the Cairns region of Far North Queensland, and service the areas from Port Douglas, Mossman and the Daintree in the North to Tully, Innisfail and the Cassowary Coast in the south and Mareeba, Atherton, Malanda and Yungaburra on the beautiful Atherton Tablelands. We can also supply the smaller towns in remote outback areas of Cape York and the gulf country including Cooktown, Weipa, Normanton and Karumba.
In the early days Savannah Campers & Trailers also offered a hire service so that customers could take a camper on the open road and try out a camper before they purchase. It gave so many of their customers the opportunity to see what this lifestyle was all about.
As Savannah Campers & Trailers grew they introduced other products like their quality Alloy Canopies and toolboxes. They also introduced a range of other quality trailers including Horse floats, Boat trailers, Galvanised Box Trailers and many Specialty Trailers. We source many of these products from likeminded companies throughout Queensland.
COVID produced many challenges for Savannah Campers, from the closure of travel through to the demand that came from the reopening of Australian travel with many customers being new to the camping lifestyle they found that it was a great time to introduce people to the outdoors lifestyle and all the benefits that go along with it.
Savannah Campers has a fully equipped workshop which means that they can service what they sell and they offer a full accessory fitting service. With Doug’s background in manufacturing, they are well suited to help with any advice you might need in relation to your camper or other trailers.
The camping and accessory choices at Savannah Campers continue to expand with the consistent introduction of new products and accessories for your campers and for camping enthusiasts, they stock Evakool Fridges, Hardkorr lighting and 12v accessories, Protek security systems and Ampfibian power adaptors.
Meet the Owners
Doug & Lynn are the husband and wife team who own and run Savannah Campers & Trailers, they love camping and spending time in the outdoors with their family and friends. Their passion for camping keeps them in good stead when trying out new products for their customer base as they only choose the products they use and reccommend themselves. They try to get out in the great outdoors as much as possible and visit some of their favourite camping spots around North Queensland. They are teaching their kids to love camping as much as they do and during the wet season you can hear the kids ask “when is it going to stop raining so we can go camping again?” Come in store and ask them about their latest trip as they have always got something fun to tell you about.
